JACKSON, Miss. — A former 50-year-old Jackson police officer acquitted of rape charges in 2006 has been arrested for the alleged rape of a minor.
Jeffery Webb Sr. is charged with statutory rape and sexual battery, according to the Jackson police docket. The arrest was made by the Jackson Police Department and Hinds County Sheriff's Department sex crimes unit.
Webb was being held in the Hinds County Detention Center. Bond has not been set. Details of the alleged rape were not available.
In November 2002, Webb, then a patrolman, was charged with rape for allegedly forcing a 16-year-old girl to have sex. Webb was found not guilty of the crime in March 2006 following a jury trial in Hinds County.
